Food and food materials like crops carry a quality level. Higher quality increases nutrition and saturation, improves positive effects, and diminishes or outright removes negative ones. Quality also carries into what you craft from those ingredients, and luck increases your chances of better rolls.
Tools, armor, and weapons get random qualities when they enter your inventory, Terraria style: a sharper sword, a dented helmet, affecting attack damage, dig speed, and armor protection. A reforging station lets you reroll a quality you do not like.
